Going Where No Church Has Gone Before
Recently our NMI/WMB leadership on the Arizona District asked an interesting question:
?In what parts of the world do we air WMB programs but do not yet have Nazarene churches??
The question was a good one, but one for which we at the WMB office didn't have an answer. So? research began and results were compiled. Following are the results of our study:
Currently there are 16 countries in which WMB programs air but where we have not yet established Nazarene churches.
Below is a list of the countries, by region, and the names of the programs:*
Africa
Somalia ( The Voice of Sanctified Life)
Sudan ( Meditation for the Day )
Asia-Pacific
China (Awake With the Angels)
East Timor (The Better Solution)
Tonga ( Take 5 )
Vanuatu ( Take 5)
Eurasia
Afghanistan ( Journey of Hope )
Iran ( Journey of Hope )
Iraq ( Journey of Hope ) **
Kuwait ( Journey of Hope )
Northern Sudan ( Journey of Hope )
Oman ( Journey of Hope )
Saudi Arabia ( Journey of Hope )
Turkey ( Journey of Hope )
Yemen ( Journey of Hope )
South America
Ecuatorial Guinea (Regional programs: Mujer Valiosa (Valued Woman), Que Sigue? (What's Next?), Revolucion Vida (Life Revolution), Aventuras Con Buzy (Adventures with Buzy)
* These statistics were compiled by comparing an official list of organized and new start Nazarene churches from 2005 District Assemblies with WMB's current list of countries in which programs air. Please know these figures are compiled annually and are current as of the end of 2005. This list will change each year as the Church of the Nazarene establishes new churches globally.
** Case in point ? Iraq. Iraq did not report any churches in 2005, but we do know they will be reporting the official formation of churches in 2006 ? Praise the Lord!
Barraged by Texters
Normally a 30-minute pre-recorded radio program, on this day Rated PG was going live and listeners would be invited to engage in on-air discussions on topics relevant to the community of Cabanatuan, Philippines. ?To get the participation of the listeners, it is necessary to ask questions to which they will respond,? said the station manager.
The announcers were ready for on-air interactions with their listeners? or, at least they thought they were. They opened the phone lines and Rated PG went live. That's when it happened?the extra 30-minutes granted by the radio station in celebration of the program's one year anniversary proved to not be enough as the announcers were barraged by people using their cell phones to send text messages containing questions and prayer requests.
?We had to stay on the air 20 more minutes to accommodate the amount of prayer requests coming in. We prayed for broken families, single parents, for student's board exams, and many other requests,? said Rev. Jun Suyat, Philippine Field Communications Coordinator. ?Through the text messages we discovered that there are many listeners around the Cabanatuan area.?
Nazarene Audience Response Officer, Carol Benzonan, observed, ?As we go through the prayer requests of the listeners, we can sense that they have deep problems. There is a need to continue Rated PG and develop ways and means to somehow relieve, if not improve, their family relationships.? Carol will contact those listeners and counsel them as needed and direct them to the local church.
Rated PG was started one year ago through the request of Cabanatuan Nazarene Pastor, Romy Tesorero. Pastor Romy feels that family programs are greatly needed in his community because there are so many broken families which negatively affects the condition of the overall communities around his church.
A partnership radio program between World Mission Broadcast (WMB) and Nazarene Compassionate Ministry (NCM), Rated PG is one of 91 programs the Church of the Nazarene airs in order to share the love and hope of Jesus. Pray for WMB and NCM and the broadcasters of Rated PG as they minister to the families in Cabanatuan.
Mujer Valiosa on TV WMB South America has begun film production of Mujer Valiosa (The Valued Woman) for television. Originally a radio program, this new television endeavor will target the Latin woman and will be co-hosted by Mrs. Liliana Radi, Mrs. Marcela Favatier, and Mrs. Robin Brunson, with special guest Mrs. Hilda Laffitte. Mrs. Laffitte will be a regular contributor to the program in the area of interior design and crafting.

The workshop is Hilda's domain, where she will be creating practical interior design items helping women decorate a house or to sell as a small business. Please pray for the following requests from WMB South America :
- Pray for the production of Mujer Valiosa TV. It is a huge endeavor involving many people and many hours of work. Pray for open doors to secular media outlets, and as we launch the program to Christian media at the COICOM conference in October in El Salvador.
- Pray for the new WMB SAM radio ministry in Bogota , Colombia . For Pastor Carlos Muñoz and team as they present the new radio program, Evidencias (Proof) to this capital city of almost 7 million people.
- Pray for a WMB SAM Indigenous Production Center in Bolivia to produce radio programming in the Aymará and Quechua languages. For Pastor Elsa Maldonado and her team as we strategize to effectively minister to the two largest indigenous groups in the world.
- Pray for the production of Mujer Valiosa radio in the language of Guaraní. Guaraní is an official language of Paraguay and the government is supporting any media efforts to re-establish this native language. We have an opportunity to impact this small country of 7 million.
- Pray for the WMB SAM regional communications team as we strategize to reach the oral learners of our continent, that many times are hidden beneath the radar of traditional mass media.

Katch d Word on Ur Fone
It's a known fact that the Philippines is the ?text messaging capital? of the world. With this in mind, World Mission Broadcast Asia Pacific is taking our broadcasting efforts to the next level.
On June 8, 2006, Talkies - a one-minute devotional recording, became available to cell phone users. By subscribing to this new service, people will receive short devotionals downloaded right to their cell phones. Initially Talkies uploaded with 20 one-minute recordings. WMB Asia-Pacific produces the devotionals which are an outgrowth of its radio program, Life in a Minute .
Wireless Services Asia, one of the content and technology providers based in Ayala, Makati , Philippines , is among the first who welcomed and pursued the concept with enthusiasm. According to the agreement signed this June, the WMC/WMB services actually allow Globe Telecom subscribers to download and/or subscribe to this unique service. In addition to Talkies , subscribers can choose to receive:
WMC Bible Subscription Service (infotexts) ? a Bible verse service
WMC Images Subscription Services (MMS, Logos, Picture Messages)
Our team in Asia-Pacific is hopeful that agreements with other content providers and telecom companies will soon follow suit, allowing them to continue communicating Christ by all means possible, even via cell phones.
WMB Devotional Corner — Enjoy the "In-Betweens" Fall is upon us and the summer heat is limited to a few more days. So why are Christmas decorations already lining the store shelves? Isn't that a bit quick? What happened to crisp autumn air and the crunch of leaves, hot apple cider and open windows at night? It's time for bon fires and hay rides, not to mention Thanksgiving! Somehow, the seasons are running together and there is little time to enjoy the ?in-betweens?.
We are so much like the seasons. Our lives are full of extremes but always include those mild, enjoyable in-betweens. Even through the dead of winter as the beautiful green of summer shrivels up and dies, we can be assured that the icy cold is merely a revival of nature - a time for the earth to rest.
Our time here on Earth is no different. Sometimes it feels like we are living crisis to crisis and that we never catch a break. The truth is God always provides an ?in-between? for us. If we never had chaos and disappointment, how would we ever appreciate a sense of calm and peace when they arrive?
You may be struggling through an extreme right now and feel like you'll never get through it. Stand still and know that God is moving and carrying you through. Soon enough, your spring will arrive. Thank Him. Not just for the calm in-between, but also for the harsh winter that allowed you to grow spiritually and draw closer to your Creator.
