Why women?

Both the South America Region and the Asia-Pacific region are fulfilling a need for programs that target women. Making up over 50% of the population on the Asia-Pacific region, women tend to be more vulnerable to issues of poverty, divorce, abandonment, homelessness, and abuse.

Radio is used as a companion during the day to many women. They are more sensitive and open to spiritual things and use the radio as a source of counsel and advice to comfort them.

We know that women play a vital, God-given role in shaping the next generation and trust that if we can reach them with the Gospel, they in turn will have a greater influence on their children.

Women need to hear the word of God. They need to know that God sees their pain, their needs and their hearts. When society rejects, ignores, and sometimes even forgets about them, God hasn't. God created women with the knowledge of the great expectations that would fall upon them, knowing the pain and suffering that some would encounter, and knowing that they indeed are a valuable part of His plan. WMB is working to make sure that each woman understands her inherent value, and has the opportunity to fall in love with her Creator.

Valued Woman (Mujer Valiosa)- South America Region

By Rev. Myriam Pozzi

At the beginning of Genesis, the concept of a "Valued Woman" immediately arises when we think of her as a creation of God, made in His own image. But, incredibly, we realize that ?many? men and, even worse, ?many? women are not conscious of their ?value? and the purpose that God has for their lives. In our society, women, along with the elderly and children, are an unprotected group that is abused, exploited and discriminated against.

?Valued Woman? was WMB South America's first women's program. Today, it has a gender-inclusive audience of 35,000,000 listeners on more than 1200 radio affiliates in 24 countries. The growth has been exponential, for sure, but the real success of the programming is that we are giving answers to true needs.

This ministry gives a woman the voice that others deny her. It blurs the stereotype of a woman who is beautiful, eternally young, rich, seductive and sophisticated. Without a doubt, this type of stereotyping goes against God?s creative purposes for women.

?Valued Woman? is no longer a single radio program. It is a ministry that looks ?to teach and to continually build up the woman? in the grace of God, rescuing and continually counseling about her value as a person and the plans that God has for her life.

We are sure that our ministry is a tool to build bridges of peace, instill social change, and promote new attitudes while restoring Christian values. We cling to the promise: ?For I know the plans that I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.? Jeremiah 29:11

The One Good Friend

Written by a KBOM listener

When I heard your first ?Krai Bilong Ol Meri? program, it really moved me. I have many problems in my life. My husband left me seven years ago and married another woman. We have three boys, one of which has died. When my husband left he took everything and gave it to his new wife. Occasionally I see him, but he calls me names and hits me when he sees me. Sometimes he accuses me of practicing witchcraft. But, I know that I am innocent and have been created in God?s image.

I?ve looked everywhere for help and found that there is no person who can help me. The one good friend I have found is Jesus. He is King of Kings. He gives me peace and strength. He is teaching me to forgive and love again. I know now that Jesus is the only answer to all my problems. Thank you for your radio program, ?Krai Bilong Ol Meri.? I don?t have anything to give you but I want to pray and support your program.

?Krai Bilong Ol Meri (KBOM) means ?Cry of the Women? and is a 15-minute program written and produced by PNG women in the Melanesian Pidgin language. KBOM is currently broadcast on three PNG radio stations, including a shortwave Christian station that broadcasts nationwide.

Please keep the women who write and produce this radio program in your prayers. And, especially pray for the listeners, whose lives and hearts God is touching through ?Krai Bilong Ol Meri.?

?Cry of the Women? Reaches the Heart of a Man

The Radio Ministry in Papua New Guinea recently received a letter from a listener near the Gulf and Morobe Province borders in PNG, which provided a first for Radio Ministry. This young man said that he was trying to tune in a station and by accident (or God appointed, you decide) tuned into our women?s program ?Krai Bilong Ol Meri?. Mr. Bilen Yutikas wrote, ?I heard a very nice message the two sisters were sharing. This particular program made me happy because I was going through some kind of problem. In my community people mocked me, people make enemies with me and I didn?t see any future for myself. As I was still listening to the program it really moved my heart. Therefore I said to myself that I have to plant a Nazarene Church in my area.?

We say, ?Praise the Lord? for two reasons. One, God is using a program geared for women to also reach out to men!! Second, because of the help he received from God through this program he wrote to us wanting to know how he could get a Nazarene Church started in his area! This gentleman?s letter closed by saying ?I will never tune my radio to any other stations because I am very eager to listen to the programs brought by the Nazarene Radio Ministries.?

Pray that God will move in this situation and in the hearts of the people that it will take to make this a reality!
