Our
Challenge
World Evangelism Broadcast's
unique edge has been its' ability to go where missionaries cannot
go…and other means of communication won't and can not work…
and through the airwaves, minister to everyone. Broadcast transcends
physical, political and religious boundaries allowing those with
searching hearts to hear the Good News through radio, television,
and the emerging opportunities of the internet.
Opportunities
One third of the earth's population
call themselves Christian. Another one third are non-Christians
but living where the Gospel has penetrated their area of the world.
And then there is another one third - nearly 3 billion people -most
who have not heard the Gospel, even once.
The
10-40 Window
Two-thirds of the world's population live in an area stretching
across northern Africa and Asia from 10 degrees to 40 degrees latitude
north of the equator. Mission strategist refer to this area as the
10-40 Window.
Of the 55 most un-evangelized countries,
97% of their population lives in this 10-40 Window - of which 95%
have never heard the good news of Jesus.
Our
Challenge
It is into this arena the Church of the Nazarene, through World
Evangelism Broadcast, is being challenged to march. Many of these
un-reached people may not have running water or electricity. The
vast majority of those living in the 10-40 Window are the poorest
of the poor. They may not be able to read…or write. But they
can listen. They can watch.
Bathed
in Prayer
Nazarene World Evangelism Broadcast …bathed with your prayers…supported
by your gifts…resourced by your church… has been able
to take God's redeeming message of hope into the most remote corners
of the globe.
Through your generosity, you have
given hope…offered peace…changed lives. You are to be
commended. But the task is far from being done. Millions still have
not heard the
Good News of Jesus Christ. And there are hundreds-of-thousands who
have responded to the Gospel, but need to hear the message of heart
holiness.
Behind
the Scenes
Behind the scenes of our broadcast efforts are an army of committed
support personnel…national workers, missionaries, writers,
preachers, teachers, engineers, video producers and graphics editors,
prayer partners, and a host of faithful ministry and financial supporters.
The Church of the Nazarene has at
it's fingertips, a global communications network, staffed by professional
media personnel…called of God…with a heart for ministry…our
six Regional Communications Centers provide the infrastructure for
our global broadcast efforts.
Where
do we go from here?
The challenge is before us…nations where official religions
are opposed to Christianity … where access by missionaries
is limited or non-existent, or impossible… radio ministry
is absolutely essential. The minds and hearts of people of these
nations are ripe for transformation and radio and television will
go behind locked doors and closed blinds, into boardrooms and classrooms,
and reach into the heart of non-believers, and as well, deliver
hope to those who already believe.
I challenge you to pray for our broadcast
efforts…pray that seeds of faith will be planted…pray
that listeners will respond to the Good News…pray for our
support personnel who play a critical role in this God-given area
of ministry.
The
call is to "go." Won't you join us?
